ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,537,662, issued on Jan. 27, was assigned to Regents of the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis).

"Phase control in distributed arrays" was invented by Yahya Tousi (Minnetonka, Minn.) and Ruixing He (Minneapolis).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A mm-wave signal generation technique that provides background phase tuning and self-alignment between adjacent sources. This technique is based on direct monitoring of the mm-wave signal and provides phase tuning through a baseband feedback loop. The techniques may be advantageous for phase alignment of large-scale mm-wave phased arrays."
