ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,420,584, issued on Sept. 23, was assigned to REALWHEELS Corp. (Zion, Ill.).
"Floating centercap for vehicle" was invented by John G. Polka (Green Oaks, Ill.) and Ron Tushner (Spring Grove, Ill.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A floating centercap assembly for a vehicle includes a cap and a counterweight affixed to the cap. A cup is included having a central bearing affixed to the cap wherein the counterweight travels rotationally within a sidewall of the cup. One of a retainer clip and a bracket affixes the cup to the vehicle wheel cover or axle."
The patent was filed on Oct. 11, 2022, under Application No. 17/963,685.
