ALEXANDRIA, Va., Oct. 8 -- United States Patent no. 12,436,378, issued on Oct. 7, was assigned to Raytheon Co. (Arlington, Va.).

"On-gimbal telescope pointing assembly" was invented by Tim P. Johnson (Torrance, Calif.) and Chris Shreve (Celina, Texas).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An on-gimbal telescope pointing assembly can include a head mirror operable to rotate to adjust an elevation angle of the pointing assembly and an all-reflective telescope operable to rotate to adjust an azimuth angle of the pointing assembly.
