ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,358,619, issued on July 15, was assigned to RATIER-FIGEAC SAS (Figeac, France).

"Braiding" was invented by Patrice Brion (Lunan, France) and Pascal Amat (Figeac, France).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method of applying a braided cover to a core comprises braiding a plurality of tows around the core from a plurality of bobbins. One or more properties of the tow on a respective bobbin vary along the length of the tow."

The patent was filed on Jan. 6, 2021, under Application No. 17/142,572.
