ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,243,732, issued on March 4, was assigned to Quest Diagnostics Investments LLC (Secaucus, N.J.).

"Mass spectrometric determination of fatty acids" was invented by Scott Goldman (Laguna Niguel, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The invention relates to the detection of fatty acids. In a particular aspect, the invention relates to methods for detecting very long chain fatty acids and branched chain fatty acids by mass spectrometry."

The patent was filed on Oct. 17, 2023, under Application No. 18/488,633.
