ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,354,238, issued on July 8, was assigned to QUALCOMM Inc. (San Diego).

"Image fusion" was invented by Wen-Chun Feng (New Taipei, Taiwan), Yu-Chen Hsu (Beitou, Taiwan), Mian Li (Shenzhen, China) and Hsuan-Ming Liu (New Taipei, Taiwan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In general, techniques are described regarding fusing or combining frames of image data to generate composite frames of image data. Cameras comprising camera processors configured to perform the techniques are also disclosed. A camera processor may capture multiple frames at various focal lengths.
