"Noise-shaping ADC with overload recovery" was invented by Yuhua Guo (San Diego), Yiqiao Zhang (San Diego), Yan Wang (San Diego), Xiaopeng Zhong (Seattle) and Elias Dagher (Laguna Niguel, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A sigma-delta analog-to-digital converter includes a noise-shaping quantizer that performs noise shaping in the absence of an overload condition. An overload detector monitors for the presence of the overload condition and disables the noise shaping for an overload recovery period in response to a detection of the overload condition."
