ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 3 -- United States Patent no. 12,542,186, issued on Feb. 3, was assigned to PURE STORAGE INC. (Santa Clara, Calif.).
"Conserving bandwidth using efficient relocation of data between storage devices" was invented by Ronald Karr (Palo Alto, Calif.), Andrew R. Bernat (Mountain View, Calif.) and Wei Tang (Sunnyvale, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A command including information associated with a relocation of data from a first storage device to a second storage device of multiple storage devices of a storage system is transmitted. The command causes the first storage device to relocate the data to the second storage device while bypassing a storage controller."
