ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,511,068, issued on Dec. 30, was assigned to PURE STORAGE INC. (Santa Clara, Calif.).

"Fan out data replication in a storage system" was invented by Ronald Karr (Palo Alto, Calif.) and James Fisher (Golden, Colo.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A request to make multiple copies of a data item to multiple new data items is received. A portion of the data item is read into a memory. The portion of the data item is written from the memory to distinct storage locations for the multiple new data items."
