ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 31 -- United States Patent no. 12,509,590, issued on Dec. 30, was assigned to Purdue Research Foundation (West Lafayette, Ind.).

"Composition of anticorrosion coatings and uses thereof" was invented by Jonathan J. Wilker (West Lafayette, Ind.), Alexandre J. Lancelot (West Lafayette, Ind.) and Nevin Naren (West Lafayette, Ind.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An anti-corrosion coating comprising a copolymer of 3,4-dihydroxystyrene and styrene and a process for inhibiting corrosion of a metal objection."

The patent was filed on Sept. 12, 2022, under Application No. 18/690,732.
