ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,243,462, issued on March 4, was assigned to PROJECT GIANTS LLC (Beaverton, Ore.).
"System to display gamut excursion" was invented by Lakshmanan Gopishankar (Houston), Arvind Madhav Nayak (Bangalore, India) and Brian C. Dunn (Portland, Ore.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A test and measurement device includes a graphical display that may act as an adjunct to a CIE chromaticity diagram 100 when analyzing color images. The graphical display shows indications of excursions of pixel color that are outside the boundary of a selected gamut. The graphic display may show the indications of excursions relative to one or more reference points."
