ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,247,227, issued on March 11, was assigned to PRESIDENT AND FELLOWS OF HARVARD COLLEGE (Cambridge, Mass.).

"Methods relating to intestinal organ-on-a-chip" was invented by Donald E. Ingber (Cambridge, Mass.), Magdalena Kasendra (Cambridge, Mass.), Alexandra Sontheimer-Phelps (Cambridge, Mass.) and Alessio Tovaglieri (Cambridge, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Described herein are methods for providing an in vitro intestinal model system, e.g., using primary cells instead of cell lines and/or cancerous cells."

The patent was filed on Sept. 6, 2023, under Application No. 18/242,731.
