ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 3 -- United States Patent no. PP36,786, issued on July 1, was assigned to Premier Introductions Inc. (Watkinsville, Ga.).

"Distylium plant named 'CG-46-22'" was invented by Michael Dirr (Bogart, Ga.), Jeff Beasley (Lavonia, Ga.) and Mark Griffith (Watkinsville, Ga.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Distylium plant named 'CG-46-22', characterized by its compact, layered (branches uniformly stacked), mounding habit; distinctive greyed-purple new foliage color and lanceolate, olive-green mature foliage. Plants have a low temperature tolerance within USDA Zones 6-9 and are tolerant of high temperatures to at least 95deg F. The new variety is a Dis...
