ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,457,918, issued on Nov. 4, was assigned to Precision Planting LLC (Tremont, Ill.).

"Targeted fluid/solid dispensing based on sensed seed data or sensed plant data" was invented by Jason Stoller (Eureka, Ill.), Ben L. Schlipf (Tremont, Ill.) and Justin McMenamy (Edwards, Ill.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A planter system includes seed sensors for determining seed placement in a furrow to then target at least one of fluid and solid application with respect to the seed. Plant sensors determine locations of plants within a field and then target at least one of fluid and solid application with respect to the plant."
