ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,319,831, issued on June 3, was assigned to PPG Industries Ohio Inc. (Cleveland).

"Coating composition" was invented by Christelle Witt-Sanson (Ofterdingen, Germany) and Grzegorz Kondziolka (Zebrzydowice, Poland).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A coating composition comprising: a. a polyester imide (PEI) polymer having an acid value of less than=10 mg KOH/g; and b. a crosslinker operable to crosslink the acid functionality on the polyester imide polymer wherein the coating composition is substantially free of bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol F (BPF), bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) and bisphenol F diglycidyl ether (BFDGE)."
