ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,337,683, issued on June 24, was assigned to Polaris Industries Inc. (Medina, Minn.).

"Utility vehicle" was invented by Andrew Betcher (Roseau, Minn.), Daniel J. Rice (Lino Lakes, Minn.), Jason R. Fields (Oak Grove, Minn.), Ryan D. Carlson (Blaine, Minn.) and James R. Saunders (Blaine, Minn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A utility vehicle includes a frame assembly defined by a lower frame assembly and an upper frame assembly coupled to the lower frame assembly. The frame assembly supports a plurality of body panels. A roof, front windshield, rear windshield, and doors may be coupled to the frame assembly to enclose the operator area."
