ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,350,992, issued on July 8, was assigned to Polaris Industries Inc. (Medina, Minn.).

"Side-by-side vehicle" was invented by Andrew C. Scheif (Stacy, Minn.), Keith A. Hollman (Osceola, Wis.), Anthony J. Komarek (Taylors Falls, Minn.), Zachary Blackford (Harris, Minn.) and Aaron D. Deckard (Stacy, Minn.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A utility vehicle includes a plurality of ground-engaging members, a frame assembly, a cab frame assembly, a front suspension assembly, a rear suspension assembly, a power steering assembly, and a powertrain assembly, all of which may be configured to lower the center of gravity of the vehicle."
