"Artificial eyelash fan" was invented by Thanh Nguyen (Reno, Nev.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An eyelash fan may include a plurality of hairs having a proximate end and a distal end. The plurality of hairs may be coupled together at a coupling region via an adhesive composition, heat fusion, or may be integrally formed. The coupling region is positioned at a distance from the proximate end such that the artificial hairs at the proximate end are not coupled or bound to each other.
