ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,544,344, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to Phio Pharmaceuticals Corp. (King of Prussia, Pa.).

"Topical delivery of nucleic acid compounds" was invented by Melissa Maxwell (Clinton, Mass.) and Richard J. Looby (Reading, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In some aspects, the disclosure relates to RNAi constructs with improved tissue and cellular uptake characteristics and methods of use of these compounds in dermal applications."

The patent was filed on April 19, 2018, under Application No. 16/606,669.
