ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 6 -- United States Patent no. PP37,084, issued on Nov. 4, was assigned to PDSI (Loxley, Ala.).

"Leucothoe plant named 'BLLE01'" was invented by Robert Edward Lee (Independence, La.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A new and distinct cultivar of Leucothoe plant named 'BLLE01' is disclosed, characterized by bronze red new growth in Spring and with each growth flush. White flowers from the leaf axils which attract pollinators. Plants are compact and spread laterally, reaching about 3 to 4 feet wide and 2.5 to 3 feet in height. The new cultivar is a Leucothoe, suitable for ornamental garden purposes."

The patent was filed on Nov. 21, 2024, under Application No. 18/955,736.
