ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 11 -- United States Patent no. 12,549,031, issued on Feb. 10, was assigned to Panduit Corp. (Tinley Park, Ill.).

"Fault managed power including optical communication elements" was invented by Jose M. Castro (Naperville, Ill.), Walid Balid (Orland Park, Ill.) and Masud Bolouri-Saransar (Orland Park, Ill.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A solution is disclosed for providing fault-managed power systems using optical elements. The fault-managed power systems are able to provide safe and efficient power delivery utilizing optical fiber links to improve signal integrity, security, and reach of the system."
