ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,276,780, issued on April 15, was assigned to Panavision International LP (Woodland Hills, Calif.).

"Anamorphic photography and squeeze ratios for digital imagers" was invented by Daniel Keith Sasaki (Glendale, Calif.) and Haluki Sadahiro (Oak Park, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A digital camera comprising a digital image sensor and at least one corrective lens element configured to reduce a blurring of an image in a horizontal or vertical dimension on the digital image sensor. The digital image sensor may be larger than a 28 millimeter diagonal."

The patent was filed on Dec. 22, 2023, under Application No. 18/395,396.
