ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,317,042, issued on May 27, was assigned to PANASONIC AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS Co. LTD. (Kanagawa, Japan).
"Sub cone and loudspeaker" was invented by Yoshitaka Kawashima (Shiga, Japan), Yuki Ishii (Kanagawa, Japan) and Yuuki Izumi (Osaka, Japan).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A sub cone for use in a loudspeaker includes a slanted portion that has an aperture area that increases toward an emission direction in which sound is emitted from the loudspeaker and a rim portion that is annular in shape and extends linearly outward from an edge of a distal end of the slanted portion in a direction orthogonal to the emission direction."
