ALEXANDRIA, Va., Nov. 25 -- United States Patent no. 12,479,767, issued on Nov. 25, was assigned to Owens Corning Intellectual Capital LLC (Toledo, Ohio).

"Gypsum cement with reduced permeability" was invented by Helen Huang (New Albany, Ohio) and Steven Badger (Pittsburgh).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A cellular glass insulation system for an outer surface of a structure or pipe. The insulation system includes multiple segments of cellular glass. An adhesive having a reduced permeability is provided at the interface between the individual cellular glass segments and is configured to limit water intrusion that might cause corrosion of the structure or pipe."
