ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,535,563, issued on Jan. 27, was assigned to Ouster Inc. (San Francisco).

"Coaxial lidar system using a diffractive waveguide" was invented by Michael Bryan Borden (San Francisco).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A coaxial lidar system includes one or more emitter channels and one or more sensor channels that share an optical module. A diffractive waveguide can be used to redirect received light from the shared optical module to the sensor channels."

The patent was filed on Aug. 12, 2022, under Application No. 17/819,526.
