ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,361,067, issued on July 15, was assigned to Open Text Corp. (Menlo Park, Calif.).

"Linking business objects and documents" was invented by Michael H. Walther (Dusseldorf, Germany), Viktor Gavrysh (Richmond Hill, Canada) and Sachin B. Chaudhari (Oakland, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Managing content is disclosed. An indication is received that a content item comprising a body of managed content is associated with a business object not included in the body of managed content. The content item is linked with the business object."
