ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,309,159, issued on May 20, was assigned to Omnissa LLC (Mountain View, Calif.).

"TLS policy enforcement at a tunnel gateway" was invented by Sanjay Patil (Atlanta), Craig Farley Newell (Atlanta), Leung Tao Kwok (Taipei, Taiwan) and Amit Kumar Yadav (Bangalore, India).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed are various approaches for verifying the compliance of a TLS session with TLs policies. Traffic between an application and a destination server can be routed through a TLS gateway. The TLS gateway can inspect TLS handshake messages for compliance with TLS policies."
