US Patent Issued to Olympus Medical Systems on April 22 for "Method for closing a wound" (Japanese Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,279,765, issued on April 22, was assigned to Olympus Medical Systems Corp. (Tokyo).

"Method for closing a wound" was invented by Keita Ozawa (Hino, Japan), Kunihide Kaji (Hachioji, Japan) and Hiroyuki Morishita (Hachioji, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A method for resecting a lesion in a wall of an organ of a patient includes injecting a fluid into the wall of the organ at a location proximate to the lesion, creating a wound in the wall of the organ by cutting the lesion from the wall of the luminal organ, removing at least a portion of the fluid injected into the wall of the organ, and closing the wound using a suture thread.
