ALEXANDRIA, Va., March 12 -- United States Patent no. 12,249,278, issued on March 11, was assigned to OLEDWorks LLC (Rochester, N.Y.) and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft e.V. (Munich).

"Stacked OLED microdisplay with low-voltage silicon backplane" was invented by John Hamer (Rochester, N.Y.), Marina Kondakova (Kendall, N.Y.), Jeffrey Spindler (Ontario, N.Y.), Bernd Richter (Dresden, Germany), Philipp Wartenberg (Dresden, Germany), Gerd Bunk (Dresden, Germany) and Uwe Vogel (Dresden, Germany).
