ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,286,420, issued on April 29, was assigned to OHIO STATE INNOVATION FOUNDATION (Columbus, Ohio) and THE BRIGHAM AND WOMEN'S HOSPITAL INC. (Boston).

"EAAT2 activators and methods of using thereof" was invented by Kevin Hodgetts (Boston) and Chien-Liang Glenn Lin (Columbus, Ohio).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed are compounds that activate excitatory amino acid transporter 2 (EAAT2), as well as methods of using these compounds to treat or preventing diseases, disorders, and conditions associated with glutamate excitotoxicity."

The patent was filed on Oct. 4, 2022, under Application No. 17/959,654.
