ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,320,704, issued on June 3, was assigned to Obsidian Sensors Inc. (San Diego).

"Fourier transform spectrometer" was invented by John Hong (San Diego), Bing Wen (San Diego), Sean Andrews (San Diego), Heesun Shin (San Diego), Edward Chan (San Diego), Tallis Chang (San Diego) and Ming Ying (San Diego).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Systems and methods for spectrometry are disclosed. In some embodiments, the system comprises a Fourier Transform Spectrometer (FTS) comprising a waveguide and a delay element. In some embodiments, the method comprises determining a power spectral density of an input optical signal via the FTS."
