ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,269,671, issued on April 8, was assigned to OBRIST CLOSURES SWITZERLAND (Reinach, Switzerland).
"Beverage capsule" was invented by Wolfgang Heukamp (Finnetrop, Germany) and Dirk Puderbach (Zell/Mosel, Germany).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A perforable beverage capsule is provided and comprises a generally frustoconical body having a sidewall closed at one end by a piercable inlet wall through which hot water can be injected in use. The end of the sidewall opposite the inlet wall has a rim, and a sealing ring is provided."
The patent was filed on June 13, 2019, under Application No. 17/251,569.
