ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 28 -- United States Patent no. 12,535,295, issued on Jan. 27, was assigned to OA DEFENSE LLC (Dayton, Nev.).

"Firearms with an ambidextrous slide stop and/or relief" was invented by Joseph Smathers (Dayton, Nev.) and Todd Powers (Dayton, Nev.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The application pertains to 1911 style firearms. In some embodiments, the firearm frame comprises a relief to capture debris. In some embodiments, the firearm has an ambidextrous slide stop."

The patent was filed on Feb. 24, 2025, under Application No. 19/061,764.
