ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 5 -- United States Patent no. 12,216,969, issued on Feb. 4, was assigned to NVIDIA Corp. (Santa Clara, Calif.).
"Methods of contact for simulation" was invented by Miles Macklin (Auckland, New Zealand), Matthias Mueller-Fischer (Zurich, Switzerland), Nuttapong Chentanez (Bangkok), Stefan Jeschke (Vienna) and Tae-Yong Kim (San Jose, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Apparatuses, systems, and techniques apply to a force-based (e.g., primal) formulation for object simulation. In at least one embodiment, updates to the force-based formulation is determined by solving for constraints that are to be satisfied when simulating rigid bodies (e.g., contact rich scenarios)."
