ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 23 -- United States Patent no. 12,365,782, issued on July 22, was assigned to Novoloop Inc. (Menlo Park, Calif.).
"Compositions and methods for the degradation of waste polypropylene" was invented by Tapaswy Muppaneni (Sioux Falls, S.D.), Russell Pratt (San Mateo, Calif.) and Jennifer Le Roy (Capitola, Calif.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed are methods for polypropylene decomposition. Also disclosed are products obtained from the decomposition polypropylene including carboxylic acids, dicarboxylic acids, nitro-substituted carboxylic acids and dicarboxylic acids; as well as the salts, esters, and anhydrides thereof."
