ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,285,422, issued on April 29, was assigned to Novartis AG (Basel, Switzerland).

"Uses of piperidinyl-indole derivatives" was invented by Jorg Eder (Rheinfelden, Germany), Richard Alexander Harrison (Shropshire, Great Britain), Boerje Haraldsson (Riehen, Switzerland) and Anna Svenja Shchubart Wellensiek (Basel, Switzerland).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "The present invention relates to the novel use of certain piperidinyl-indole derivatives in the treatment of patients suffering from renal diseases or disorders, and in particular for the treatment of patients suffering from C3G (C3 glomerulopathy) and IgAN (IgA nephropathy)."
