ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,318,736, issued on June 3, was assigned to NORWEGIAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (NTNU) (Trondheim, Norway).

"Gas separation membranes" was invented by Liyuan Deng (Trondheim, Norway), Saravanan Janakiram (Trondheim, Norway) and Luca Ansaloni (Trondheim, Norway).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A composite membrane suitable for separating a gas from a gas mixture comprising a selective layer coated on a support, wherein said selective layer comprises: a) a polymeric matrix comprising an amine polymer; b) a graphene oxide nanofiller; and c) a mobile carrier selected from an ionic liquid or an amino acid salt."
