ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19 -- United States Patent no. 12,330,990, issued on June 17, was assigned to Northwestern University (Evanston, Ill.).

"Cements reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets or helical carbon nanotubes" was invented by Ange-Therese Akono (Evanston, Ill.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Methods for the dispersion and synthesis of graphene nanoplatelet-cement composites and helical carbon nanotube composites with high concentrations of graphene nanoplatelets or helical carbon nanotubes that do not require chemical dispersion aids or dispersion-enhancing chemical surface functionalization are provided. Also provided are the reinforced cement composites made using the methods."
