ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,303,618, issued on May 20, was assigned to Northeastern University (Boston).
"Oxygen-generating cryogels" was invented by Adnan Memic (Macomb, Mich.), Sidi A. Bencherif (Boston), Michail Sitkovsky (Boston), Thibault Colombani (Boston) and Stephen Hatfield (Peabody, Mass.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed are nanocomposite oxygen-generating cryogels and their uses in reducing hypoxia in a biological tissue, such as a tumor. Methods of treating cancer with the disclosed cryogels are also provided."
The patent was filed on Aug. 8, 2019, under Application No. 17/266,351.
