ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,359,243, issued on July 15, was assigned to Northeastern University (Boston).

"DNA adductomics by mass tag prelabeling" was invented by Roger W. Giese (Hanover, Mass.) and Poguang Wang (Westborough, Mass.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed is a method for detecting the presence of a DNA adduct in DNA. The method involves the pre-labeling of an adducted nucleotide in the DNA with a quaternary ammonium compound."

The patent was filed on May 4, 2021, under Application No. 17/307,607.
