ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 5 -- United States Patent no. PP36,596, issued on April 15, was assigned to North Carolina State University (Raleigh, N.C.).

"Cornus plant named 'NCCH3'" was invented by Thomas Ranney (Raleigh, N.C.), Nathan Lynch (Raleigh, N.C.), Andra Nus (Raleigh, N.C.) and Irene Palmer (Raleigh, N.C.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "'NCCH3' is a new cultivar of flowering dogwood with a unique combination of traits including large white bracts, large glossy leaves, a fast growth rate, and showy fall color."

The patent was filed on June 28, 2024, under Application No. 18/831,086.
