ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 30 -- United States Patent no. 12,374,746, issued on July 29, was assigned to NISSAN NORTH AMERICA INC. (Franklin, Tenn.).
"Elastic support having nanotube springs for lithium-ion batteries" was invented by Somayeh Zamani (Novi, Mich.) and Nanzhu Zhao (Novi, Mich.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A battery is provided that includes a cathode current collector, a cathode, a solid electrolyte, an anode current collector and an elastic support. The elastic support is provided on at least one of the cathode current collector and the anode current collector. The elastic support comprises an elastic polymer and nanotube springs provided within the elastic polymer."
