ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,319,583, issued on June 3, was assigned to NIPPON LIGHT METAL COMPANY LTD. (Tokyo).

"Sodium borohydride production method" was invented by Kaoru Sugita (Shizuoka, Japan), Yuji Oota (Shizuoka, Japan), Yo Rene Abe (Shizuoka, Japan), Takuma Hachisu (Tokyo) and Takehiro Matsunaga (Ibaraki, Japan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A sodium borate, aluminum powder and fluoride powder are mixed together in a hermetic vessel filled with hydrogen gas, and the mixture is reacted at not less than 410deg C. and not more than 560deg C. to produce sodium borohydride."

The patent was filed on Aug. 5, 2020, under Application No. 17/632,082.
