ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 20 -- United States Patent no. 12,389,986, issued on Aug. 19, was assigned to NIKE Inc. (Beaverton, Ore.).

"Customized article type" was invented by David J. Dirsa (North Andover, Mass.), Clifford B. Gerber (Hillsboro, Ore.), Petre Gheorghian (Portland, Ore.) and E. Scott Morris (Beaverton, Ore.).
