ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 17 -- United States Patent no. 12,312,551, issued on May 27, was assigned to NEW YORK AIR BRAKE LLC (Watertown, N.Y.).
"Multiphase composite lubricant" was invented by G. Samuel Benson (Jacksonville, Fla.), Michael Stroder (Nixa, Mo.) and Craig Shore (Grinnell, Iowa).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A multiphase composite lubricant for a railway lubricant stick that can be used in both low and high temperature applications. The composition of the multiphase composite lubricant includes an amount of a lubricant, an amount of a thermoplastic lattice components that forms a lattice structure, and a polymer extender."
