US Patent Issued to New Mexico Tech University Research Park on July 8 for "Self-powered sensing of tensile strain using multifunctional mechano-luminescence-optoelectronic composites" (New Mexico Inventor)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,352,642, issued on July 8, was assigned to New Mexico Tech University Research Park Corp. (Socorro, N.M.).

"Self-powered sensing of tensile strain using multifunctional mechano-luminescence-optoelectronic composites" was invented by Donghyeon Ryu (Socorro, N.M.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein is a composition and a method for energy harvesting and the autonomous detection of structural failure. This method can be used to monitor, for example, the structural integrity of unmanned aircraft systems."
