ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 9 -- United States Patent no. 12,352,642, issued on July 8, was assigned to New Mexico Tech University Research Park Corp. (Socorro, N.M.).
"Self-powered sensing of tensile strain using multifunctional mechano-luminescence-optoelectronic composites" was invented by Donghyeon Ryu (Socorro, N.M.).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Disclosed herein is a composition and a method for energy harvesting and the autonomous detection of structural failure. This method can be used to monitor, for example, the structural integrity of unmanned aircraft systems."
The patent was filed on June 26, 2023, under Application No. 18/341,190.
