ALEXANDRIA, Va., Aug. 6 -- United States Patent no. 12,377,925, issued on Aug. 5, was assigned to Neptune Scooters (San Carlos, Calif.).

"Securing electric scooters" was invented by Javier Gonzalez Carracelas (San Carlos, Calif.) and Forrest Jean North (San Carlos, Calif.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "In some embodiments, a docking station includes a scooter locking section that allows the electric scooter to be removed from the docking station when the electric scooter is in a non-rotated orientation and prevents the electric scooter to be removed from the docking station when the electric scooter is in a rotated orientation."
