ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 18 -- United States Patent no. 12,325,883, issued on June 10, was assigned to Neogen Food Safety US HoldCo Corp. (Lansing, Mich.).

"Loop-mediated isothermal amplification primers for Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) detection" was invented by Tonya D. Bonilla (Woodbury, Minn.), Neil Percy (St. Paul, Minn.) and Christina A. Barnes (North Hudson, Wis.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "Primers and methods of amplifying DNA from shiga toxins stx1 and stx2 designed for use in a multiplex method and useful in detecting shiga-toxin producing E. Coli (STEC). The primers being especially designed for use in Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP)."
