ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 16 -- United States Patent no. 12,496,228, issued on Dec. 16, was assigned to Neatcap LLC (Bethlehem, Pa.).

"Medical headgear" was invented by Fred M. Kimock (Macungie, Pa.), Zachary Rambo (Melrose, Mass.) and Edward G. Thear (Kure Beach, N.C.).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "An earcup for a medical headgear includes a base, a sidewall extending from the base, a flange extending radially from an end of the sidewall opposite the base, and a retaining flange disposed on a portion of a circumferential peripheral edge of the base. The retaining flange extends radially outward from the base along a longitudinal direction of the earcup."
