US Patent Issued to NATIONAL TAIWAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY on May 6 for "Retrofitting method for a beam with an opening" (Taiwanese Inventors)

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 10 -- United States Patent no. 12,291,868, issued on May 6, was assigned to NATIONAL TAIWAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (Taipei, Taiwan).

"Retrofitting method for a beam with an opening" was invented by Chien-Kuo Chiu (Taipei, Taiwan), Min-Yuan Cheng (Taipei, Taiwan) and Chieh-Tzu Chou (Taipei, Taiwan).

According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A retrofitting method for a beam with an opening is disclosed. The retrofitting method provides a hoop cooperated with an inclined stirrup to form a reinforcement set. The hoop is used to enclose the opening; and the reinforcement set may be selectively adjusted according to the distance between the edge of opening and a column face. ...
